First Baptist Church

Board of Deacons - James A. Smith, Chair
The Board is part of the foundation of First Baptist Church. The members
are dedicated to serve God, the Church and carry out Christian duties in
the church and community. The Board is guided by the spirit of God and
the Church’s constitution and by-laws. The Deacons serve Communion,
with the Pastor, on the second Sunday of the month.

Board of Trustees - Shirley M. Gilliam, Chair
The members of the Board manage the operations of the church, along
with the Pastor. They are called upon to address legal, financial and
contractual matters, and maintain a sense of moral focus and integrity in
executing their duties for God.

Sunday School - Jennifer Stacy, Superintendent
The mission of the First Baptist Church Sunday School is to provide a
comprehensive program that encompasses the Christian educational
needs of every age group in attendance in accordance with the vision set
forth by our pastor and membership.

Women's Club - Patricia Ferris, Chair
To raise funds for the church and to support the church in all of its
programs.

Men's Club - Reverend David L. Carter, Sr., Chair
To raise funds for the church and to support the church in all of its
programs.

Pastor's Aide Club - Dorothy Sharp, Chair
Supports the Pastor and his wife, provide refreshments, cleaning of the
robes, etc., and any other assistance they may require.

Senior Usher Board - Shirley Gilliam, Chair
Serve as door-keepers and floor runners in the honor of God. They
ensure that programs are given to the congregation and provide any
other assistance, during services/events as needed.

Music Ministry - Robert Walker, President
Hilton Tines and Robyn Thompson, Choir Directors
Voices of Harmony Choir and Voices of Hope Choir
Sing praises unto God and provide First Baptist Church’s congregation
with the spiritual atmosphere through traditional hymns to evoke a rich
spiritual feeling. Our choirs are asked to share their talent and musical
joy with other local churches, in the region, and we do so proudly with
God’s Grace.

Altar Guild - Virginia A. White, Chair
Ensures that fresh flowers are placed on the Altar every Sunday and for
special events. They are also maintain all floral arrangements and
provide other Altar duties, as required.

Transportation Ministry - Scott Stacy, Chair
The Transportation Ministry is to provide a safe and consistent means of
transportation to and from church sponsored events, for anyone who is
in need and for any group function requiring the services of the church
van.
